Nicholas Keen, QMHP

Mental Health Professional located in Tigard, OR

Nicholas attained his Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Professional Counseling at the Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and is currently pursuing licensure within the state of Oregon as a Professional Counselor Associate. Prior to joining the ADHD Child and Family Services team, Nicholas worked in community mental health as a crisis counselor, stabilizing youth and families undergoing acute distress.

Before becoming a therapist Nicholas worked with youth and families in a variety of capacities in and outside of schools, engendering an enduring sense of curiosity for the interplay between developing individuals and the systems we occupy.

As a systems oriented therapist, Nicholas takes a collaborative approach with families to alter patterns of behavior and access their full potential, using the family’s strengths as fuel for change. Nicholas’s approach to therapy is playful and strengths based, incorporating art and play therapy techniques when appropriate. He notices presenting challenges when they appear during therapy sessions, creating a foundation from which to grow, challenge, and learn.

When not working with youth and families you can find Nicholas entertaining the many interests his ADHD brain needs to not be bored, such as playing video games, sports, and art. In between interests Nicholas likes to spend time with his cat, Lucca, tend to his plants, and go on adventures with his partner and friends.
