Very often, children and adolescents with ADHD struggle with peer relationships.
The social skills training program at ADHD Children and Family Services is designed to help elementary and early middle school aged children learn how to get along better with others.
During each weekly session, children meet in small age-matched groups that are led by two or more trained therapists. Groups tend to last between 6-8 weeks.
Structured sessions focus on building skills related to making friends, working cooperatively with others, managing frustration, and developing greater emotional intelligence in a fun and positive environment.
Children with ADHD are not able to develop organizational skills as easily as their peers. For many children with ADHD, organizational skills are a true skills deficit and not a reflection of laziness or poor work ethic.
The focused skills-training groups at ADHD Children and Family Services offer kids and parents an opportunity to learn more about how ADHD impacts organizational and planning skills, and develop strategies for improving organization at home and school.
Learning organizational skills and building new brain pathways can be fun, and the team is here to show you how.
Parents attend a pre- and post- informational session, so they can support their child’s skill-building at home. If your child could use help developing supportive relationships, please call ADHD Child & Family Services to learn more or book an appointment through the online tool.
Parenting groups can be an effective and economical way for parents to learn more about ADHD and how it impacts their child.
Parenting groups are a great way to connect with others and learn basic strategies for creating household systems and structures, improving communication, developing positive parenting skills, and learning effective discipline strategies that build skills and greater connection.
Parent groups are generally offered in the evenings and on Saturday.
For more information about the groups currently offered to parents, please call the office today or schedule an appointment through the online booking tool.
