Arin Mara, MA, QMHP-R

Counselor located in Tigard, OR

Arin (Any Pronouns) obtained their master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Marriage and Family Therapy, a COAMFTE accredited program. They completed their clinical internship at a dialectical behavior therapy clinic, where they assessed and treated clients with high-risk behaviors including substance abuse, suicidal gestures, and self-harm. They sought out extensive training in working with transgender clients and their families, and they particularly enjoy working with queer adolescents.
Arin does not use interventions without a substantial evidence base. They primarily gravitate toward dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and child-centered play therapy. They believe that safety, self-understanding, and all of our capacity to change can be found in the present moment. As such, they use many mindfulness based interventions. While your problems may not be your fault, no one – including your therapist – can fix them for you. But we can find a way out of them together.
