Michelle "Shelli" McCaffrey, MS, Professional Counselor Associate

Counselor located in Tigard, OR

Shelli earned her masters in counseling psychology and art therapy from Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA. Being a recent transplant from Philadelphia, Shelli is excited to learn, practice and pursue her art therapy licensure under Adam Graves, LPC, LCAT, ATR-BC.

Shelli has worked with children, adults, and families since 2003. She has worked in residential, school, and community settings. Shelli started making art alongside individuals in 2011, which encouraged her to pursue art therapy education. Shelli was inspired by noticing how art making can naturally foster connections, aid communication and understanding, and build trust.

Shelli has held various roles along the way, including running a creative day program for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, behavior specialist, art teacher in a special education school, and counselor in women’s residential treatment for substance use. Shelli loves large-scale projects and has designed and facilitated several collaborative, community-building murals in the Philadelphia area.

In session, Shelli utilizes a humanistic, person-centered counseling and art therapy approach, using autonomy and the power of art making for self-expression, reflection, and of course coping skills. Shelli has a strong appreciation for art’s ability to go beyond words, which is at the center of her sessions.
